See Airport signal details from the menu bar

For users of Snow Leopard, you can now see all of your connection details for your wireless connection directly from the menu bar. Just hold down the option key on the keyboard and click on the Airport icon in the menu bar. For your current connection it will then show the PHY Mode, BSSID, the wireless channel you are on, the security being used, the RSSI, and the transfer rate.
