Getting rid of the sync icon in the menu bar
If you sync your contacts or calendar to an external source like Google or Yahoo, you'll find that in Snow Leopard you now get the sync icon in your menu bar. If you want to get rid of the Sync icon in the menu bar, you might think that clicking on the icon and opening the preferences will help you get rid of it. You'd be wrong.
What you need to do is open the iSync application itself, it can be found in Applications > iSync. Once the app is open, then select iSync > Preferences... from the menu. You then need to uncheck the box next to Show status in menu bar. As you as you do this, the Sync icon will be removed from the menu bar.
