Installing Fedora 11 on a Dell R710

I recently got a new Dell R710 server. My plan was to install Fedora 11 on it. But after downloading the Fedora 11 install image and booting up with it on my R710, I ran into an issue. As the install starts, I get a message that says:

Press the <Enter> key to begin the installation process.

Yet no matter how many times I press the Enter key, no matter how many keyboards I try, no matter I can't get passed this point. I know the keyboard is working since I can boot into Setup mode and it recognizes it. I know the install disk is good, I verified the checksum. So far as I can tell, you just can't get Fedora 11 to install on a Dell R710.

So what I did instead was to install Fedora 10. Then, when that was installed, I used the preupgrade command to upgrade from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11. See here (http://www.tipstrs.com/tip/11933/Using-preupgrade-to-upgrade-from-Fedora-10-to-Fedora-11) on how to use preupgrade to do this.

While this process did take twice as long as a normal install, it did allow me to install Fedora 11 on my Dell R710 when all other attempts to do so had failed.

According to this tip (http://www.tipstrs.com/tip/12202/%22Press-Enter-Key%22) the better solution is to upgrade your firmware. This fixes the problem and you can install Fedora 11 directly.
