Have Vista connect to a network that is not broadcasting an SSID

With the default settings of Windows Vista, your computer can not connect to a wireless network that is not broadcasting an SSID. If you want to configure Vista to connect to a network that is not broadcasting an SSID, here are the steps to take:

1 - Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.

2 - In the left pane of the network and sharing center, click the Manage wireless networks link.

3 - Right click on your wireless network connection and select Properties from the menu that is shown.

4 - If you aren't already on the Connection tab, select it.

5 - You'll see an option called Connect even if the network is not broadcasting, check the box next to this option.

Click OK to save your changes. From now on you should be able to connect to a wireless network even if it is not broadcasting its SSID.
