Removing broken light bulbs

If you have a light bulb that gets broken off while it is installed in the socket, they can be tricky and dangerous to remove. To remove a broken light bulb first make sure that the light switch is turned off. Next, get either a potato, an orange or apple, or bar of soap and jam it into the base of the broken light bulb. The glass shards from the broken bulb should embed themselves in the potato/fruit/soap and you should be able to turn it (counter-clockwise) to safely remove the broken light bulb.
