In Firefox 3.5, they decided to take the page load progress meter out of the main tool bar. In its place you now get a progress meter in the tab bar when the page in a tab is loading.

I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate this. I like to be able to look in one place, the toolbar, and know if something is loading or not. I have having to look around in the various tab bars to see if this is happening.

Happily you can fix this by customizing your toolbar to include a page load indicator; Mozilla calls it the Activity Indicator.

To do this, right click in an empty are of your toolbar and select Customize... from the menu:



You will see a list of elements that you can then drag and drop on to your toolbar.



Find the one called Activity Indicator and drag it to your toolbar. I like mine all the way to the right so I can find it quickly.

Once that's done, click the Done button in the pop-up. You'll then have a page load progress indicator in your toolbar any time a page or tab is loading.
