Kill the CapsLock on the Mac
Ask yourself a simple question, how many times have you ever needed to use the CapsLock key on your keyboard over the last year. Unless you are a PL/SQL programmer who insists on replicating the old-school style that they love, or you are a continual screamer on message boards, the answer is probably zero. Now ask yourself another question, over the last year how many times have you accidentally hit the CapsLock key and had to back up and repair the damage? Most likely, the answer is greater than zero.
If this describes you or you you have a friend that uses their CapsLock to scream a lot, you'll be happy to know that on the Mac, it's very easy to completely disable the CapsLock key. Just go to System Preferences, select Keyboard & Mouse, make sure you are on the Keyboard tab, then click the Modifier Keys... button. This will pop up a panel that allows you to define the action for the CapsLock, Control, Option, and Command keys. For the CapsLock, click on the selection of options and choose No Action. Click OK and your CapsLock key is now disabled. Ah, the blessed quiet.
