Open My Computer more quickly
On my computer when I click on the My Computer link on my desktop it takes a long time to open. I finally realized that its so slow because it's spending a bunch of time searching the network looking for network drives. So to speed up the opening of My Computer, I changed my options so that it doesn't look on the network and now when I click on it, it opens instantly.
If you want to make this change too it's really easy. First you have to open My Computer. And yeah, it may take a while. But once it's open select Tools > Folder Options... from the menu. When the options open, select the View tab and then uncheck the box next to Automatically search for network folders and printers (this is the first option in the list).
Click Apply and your change will be saved. You should then be able to open up My Computer without having to wait.
