Hammering tiny nails

When hammering tiny nails it's really easy to hammer your fingers instead. People sometimes use pliers to hold the nail, but I usually find this awkward, and sometimes the pliers get in the way. A friend of mine showed me a great tip for hammering tiny nails which is to use cardboard. You poke the nail through the cardboard and it's then held fast. You can then keep your fingers far away from the hammer.
