Change your scroll bar width

I always use a mouse with a scroll wheel, so I almost never use the scroll bars in Windows for actual scrolling. To help get more screen space for these unused scroll bars, I like to make the scroll bars really narrow. Windows lets you adjust the width of the scroll bars so that you can make them bigger or smaller to suit your taste.

- Right-click on an empty spot on the Desktop and select Properties from the menu.

- Click on the Appearance tab.

- Click on the Advanced button.

- From the Item menu, choose the Scrollbar option.

- Once Scrollbar is selected a Size entry will be shown. This is the width of the scroll bar in pixels. Adjust it to your liking. Things should look somewhat like this:

- Once you've changed the Size, click OK and then Apply to have your changes take effect.
