If you want to turn off the balloon tips in the notification area of Explorer, it's pretty easy to do. Just go to the Start menu and type regedit. This should get you to the registry editor program. Once in the program, in the left side of the window, navigate down to the following section: HKEY_CURRENT_USER + Software + Microsoft + Windows + CurrentVersion + Explorer + Advanced. Once you are in the Advanced section, move the mouse to the right side of the window, right click and select New from the menu and then REG_DWORD (32 bit) from the next menu. You are now creating a new entry in the registry editor. Name the new entry EnableBalloonTips. Once it is created, double click on it and give it a value of 0.

Once this is done, save your changes and reboot your machine. Your balloon notifications should now be gone from Explorer.
