Transferring iPhone photos to Windows

If you are still trying to figure out how to transfer pictures from your iPhone to Windows XP through iTunes, you can stop now. It doesn't work that way. Turns out that you have to transfer pictures to Windows XP from the iPhone by treating the iPhone like any other digital camera that you could hook to your computer.

Connect your iPhone to your computer. From the Start menu, select All Programs, then Accessories, then Scanner and Camera Wizard. Your iPhone should then show up as one of the available devices. Select it and you'll get taken to the wizard that walks you through the setup. Once this is configured, you can then transfer your photos from your iPhone to Windows XP.

Excellent tip. Can't believe Apple didn't include this information in the Iphone user manual. Also works with Vista if you treat the Iphone as a digital camera plugged into the computer via USB cable.

Great tip. For Vista, you add the iPhone as a digital camera by going to Windows Photo Gallery (All Programs), then choosing Import from the File menu. Simple! The only problem I now have is deleting the photos I no longer want on the phone one by one.

Thank you, this took only few moments. I spent a few weeks trying to figure out a way to transfer the pics to my computer without having to buy a program.

these tips did not work for me. I have vista and followed the above instructions but the iphone was not listed as something to import from... there was nothing to import from. And yes I checked and reset all connections.
