Disable Location Aware Browsing in Firefox
One of the new features in Firefox 3.5 is location aware browsing. These feature make your location available to the sites you are surfing so that they can more easily serve you up content that is relevant. Kinda cool. But also kinda scary.
If you want to disable location aware browsing in Firefox, there is no obvious way to do this. You can look in the Preferences all you want, you want find. But it is still possible to disable it, you just have to use the about:config settings.
To do this, type about:config in the address bar of your browser (you may get a warning, if so ignore it). This will bring up a big list of configuration settings. Scroll down to the one called geo.enabled (or use the search box to get to it). Once geo.enabled is shown, double click on it, and the value will change from true to false indicating that Firefox has turned off the location awareness feature.
