Using pine needles for mulch
There are many plants that prefer an acidic soil. Some such plants are:
Azaleas
Rhododendrons
Hibiscus
Gardenias
Holly
Hydrangea
Magnolias
Mountain Laurel
Dogwood
Blueberries
Cranberries
Raspberries
Strawberries
Potatoes
For plants that like acidic soil, you can kill two birds with one stone by using pine needles as mulch. The mulch helps the plant conserve water, and pine needles are acidic so as they break down they will add acid to the soil, keeping your plants happy, healthy, and growing stronger
