Fire safe deck materials

If you are building a deck in an area where there is a high risk of fires, you should make sure you select a decking material that is fire resistant. Most people assume that composite deck materials are better for fire safety than real wood. This is actually not always the case. While there are some composite deck materials that have good fire resistance (AmeraDeck is one: http://www.ameradeck.com/), most composite materials have very poor fire ratings and in many cases they are worse than real wood. So make sure you check the fire rating before you select a decking material, don't assume that just because it's composite it must be good.
