Skip the shutdown delay in Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope
One new "feature" of Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope (9.04) that I really dislike is the delayed shutdown. Instead of just shutting down like it used to. You now get a notice letting you know that the shutdown will occur in 1 minute, or you can push a button now. Jeez, has someone been studying at the "Redmond" school of design?
If you want to skip the delay, here are the step to configure things so that shutdowns happen immediately:
1) Right click on the shutdown icon and select Preferences.
2) From the User Switcher Preferences window uncheck the box next to Show conform dialogs for logout, restart and shutdown.
3) Hit the Close button.
That's all that's required. Next time you go to shutdown your box, it'll happen with no delay.
