As a proprietor of an article submission service I wanted to tell people what really works for creating backlinks.

First of all, we all know posting on sites like tipstrs is great... it's an awesome way to share your wealth of knowledge while at the same time maybe getting a backlink or a customer. But the most important part of backlinks with these types of services, is putting useful content. Content matters.

There are a lot of services out there that promise 1,000s of directory submissions for relatively inexpensive amounts. However, Google does not rank these sites well at all, and they really prove worthless (since duplicate content is marked as spam). Avoid these at all costs.

If you want to create backlinks post on these sites with unique content. They not only are high PR sites, but they also are great for real traffic.

A tip for not having to write a bunch of new content:
Write one article (about 500+ words) then spin it. There are plenty of spinning services. Spinning is basically rewording or reordering your article so it is basically the same information, just said differently.

This will create 100+ great HIGH PR backlinks to your website.
