How to impress the judges of 2009 Calling All Innovators Contest

Forum Nokia’s 2009 Calling All Innovators Contest is revered as one of the most watched platforms for global talent search on mobile application development. Competition is open to all web and mobile application developers, and features four distinct categories for submissions: Internet Innovation; Flash; Emerging Markets and Mobile Necessities; and Apps on maps. To win the global competition, your application must have the “X” factor to impress the judges.

Step 1

As the 2009 Calling All Innovators contest organized by Forum Nokia is a global contest for web and mobile developers, you need to create something innovative and extra ordinary application to be used in Nokia mobile devices.

Step 2

Plus, the total cash and prizes for the 2009 Calling All Innovators contest are worth more than $250,000, thus the competition will be really tough.

Step 3

Top three submissions in each of the four categories will receive cash and prizes which includes “Spotlight" placement featuring the winning application on Nokia's newly announced Ovi Store, where consumers can search for the best mobile applications and content for their Nokia devices.

Step 4

Before submitting your application please check whether it has got any of these things such as communication, entertainment, life balance, personal information management and social responsibility aspect or not. Your application must have at least one of the above elements to qualify for the contest.

Step 5

Once your application is submitted, it will be scrutinized by Forum Nokia on aspects of quality and functionality to find out whether the application runs successfully on Nokia devices and platforms (S60 and/or Series 40) or not. Hence, test your application fully before submitting.

Step 6

Secondly, creativity level of the submitted application will be checked for its uniqueness, novelty value and innovativeness. Hence, assess your application on these parameters.

Step 7

The usability level of the application will be judged by the panel of judges to check the superior design and ease of use that mobile users will want in an application. So, examine your application from the user’s point of view to see if it will match the expected levels for customer adoption.

Step 8

Lastly, the application submitted by you must have the commercial viability to fulfill users' needs.

Step 9

Plus the application created by you must not be just about personal productivity. You need to think about the entertainment and fun part, too.

Step 10

Now you need to find out the USP of your application and choose the category in the contest where it would fit in best and submit your application before June 30, 2009.

Step 11

The application will be closely reviewed by the panel of judges to choose finalists and winners which will be announced in the month of September, 2009.
